shapes you wear

Shapes You Wear is a piece mainly inspired by the combination of softness and flexibility of folds, either from a fabric, skin or a structural element and postmodernist architecture.

Architecture and fashion are fluid. They are both visually driven expressions of personal tastes and the times we live in. Architecture gives us spaces to live and work in while fashion gives us what we wear. How a facade sculpts a building is similar to how clothing wraps a body. The angled lines and continuous curves, the shape and structure, the layering of materials, the meticulous attention to construction and the balance and symmetry that architecture encompasses are what I find appealing. Particularly, the postmodernism style, which is characterised by decorative excess, symbolic references, bright colours, structural variety, the assortment of materials and shapes, to name a few.
